what I do is take the label off, use 4 or 5 rubber bands, wrap them very tightly around the skein of yarn , then wash and dry it. works great! I have found that some of the old peaches and cream yarn faded bad and I used this method with great success. if you just put the skein in a pillow case you are going to have a tangles mess.

I replied before how i wrap the yarn and put rubber bands around the ball then stick in socks put rubber band to close sock, i haven't had problem with red heart yarn or any of mine running but i put darks with dark clothes and the wites or light colors such as pastel colors with my whites. I haven't washed any peaches n cream yarn before though.

You can tell I am an authority on washing yarn. lol Never tried it and now I won't. How about those mesh sleeves to hold the yarn? Could I put it in the sleeve and then into something else?
