Dogs scratching up blanket

Hi I spent months making a blanket with mostly tunisian simple stitch and smock stitch for my 71 year old mom.
She has 3 dachsunds that lie to scratch it! I thought the stitches would resist this but they are pulling up strands of the yarn. Is there like a coating or fabric glue that would protect it or minimize it? She really likes it

The only way I know is to keep it away from the babies. I don't know of any coating you could put on it, but if there is I am sure it would defeat the purpose of a soft and cuddly afghan. Didja try using your scrap yarn for making the critter kids a blankie of their own so they won't feel left out when mom has hers?

hi no real help here been my experience that small dogs love to burrow so only solution is to make them their o own i guess and put that one wjere they dont go or something s sorry
