    not sure what you meant about going through the front loop one way and back loop back

    when you go across the first row, crochet in the front loop...when you turn it around to go the other way, the front loop is now the back loop....crocheting in this manner gives a smoother finish....I use it a lot on hats....not sure how to do it but will try to upload a pic of one of them

    Double crochet-img_0702-jpg hope this comes thru....can't see the sides but did FL all around the top, then switched to back and forth for the sides and back...that is where I used FL one way (right side) and BL the other way

    I do also on afghans and things that have a lot of tension put on them, but toques don't get that much hard use and I like the smoother finish you get when you only go thru one loop
