Arthur is Getting a Girlfriend!
I went online to find Arthur a girlfriend.
At first, the best I could find was posable skeletons. They are numbered so you can tell which one you're getting - #1 man I believe is the smallest at 3 1/4" tall, #2 is supposed to be a child, #3 is a man at 3 3/4", and #4 is a woman. A dog (1 1/2" tall & 2 1/4" long including tail) and a cat are also available. (Note: the sizes listed on Amazon are wrong.) The thing that is so cool about them is that they are posable! Their jaws work too, and the humans come with an extra set of gripping hands. They said the #1 man can grip Lego swords, etc., but I haven't tried that out yet. The company has even made playsets for these skeletons! I did buy the #1, #3, a dog, and a Lego dragon sword. As long as the sword works out, my oldest is going to get the #1 man and a sword. The problem is that the humans are way too small for Arthur (he's about 12 inches).

But - wait for it - this is the exciting news! When I went back online, I actually found the same skeleton as Arthur! I can't believe that after 20 years that he's still in production. My oldest accused me of being deceptive - he claims that I gave him Arthur a long time ago; I say I didn't. Now I can give him his own glow-in-the-dark friend! And what's really funny is after all this time the reviewers' complaint is the same I had - he falls apart too easily. Still haven't figured out how to fix that yet.
Arthur is so happy. I gave him a red cushioned chair to sit on, which is much better than the cardboard box. He loves his new puppy and is accepting name suggestions. He is really enjoying his two new friends, even if they're quite a bit shorter than he is. I haven't told him about his new girlfriend yet, because I want that to be a surprise. The only thing left is to make an "upholstered" chair, or maybe loveseat, for the new couple. Clothes, too. Must get busy on that, pronto!Last edited by Barbara G.; 06-05-2018 at 06:02 AM. Hi Nova 55, I am so happy Arthur is going to have friends and a possible girlfriend. He already has a big grin on his face.
These are adorable. When you make clothes for Arthur he is not so small. The little man could be a Highlander and wear a kilt that would be simple plus he could have the sword. There are so many ideas you could do.
Can't wait to see your ideas.

Wow, never even considered Highlander attire, although now that you suggested it, I can see it. Arthur really liked his top hat and red bow, so I was thinking more on the order of a tux. I wasn't planning on making any clothes for the little skeleton just because he's so small and that would be really difficult. I like to work small, but about 5" is comfortable for me. I might try something with crochet thread, though. Still deciding what to dress the girlfriend in - I think something girly and summery would be nice. Listen to me talk - I haven't even made a garment for a human yet!

Hi Nova55,
Since you have Arthur why not use the other characters from King Arthur.
Little man could be Lancelot or Galahad
Girlfriend could be Guinevere (oh what beautiful dresses you could make).
Dog could be Merlin
Sword could be Excalibur
What ever you decide I know it will be cute. I remember the first time I saw Arthur I thought he was scary but in a good way.
I Love your post.

I love your idea! Arthur and his girlfriend (must find a name) would make a great King and Queen. But I'm getting the idea that you think I'm some sort of crochet "wizard". I appreciate your belief in my abilities, but they certainly surpass my own. The only little clothes I've made were for amigurumi; I've never made any garments for regular size humans. I'm also concerned about the rib cage on Arthur. His collarbone sticks way out and I'm not sure how clothes would lay on him. I think I'll try a t-shirt first and see how it goes!

Hello Nova55, I saw that beautiful crochet cowl you made so I know you can crochet. Little crochet things are easier to make and if you make a mistake it is not hard to start over since it is so small.
I saw some little squares of different pieces of cloth at Walmart one day they come in a little bundle of mixed colors. You could use those to make a pretty little dress. I purchased a large square piece of material that was sold by just 1 piece. I used it to make a lining of a purse I made. Fun to do and not expensive. I do have faith in you.

I've seen those squares at Walmart too - I think in quilting they call them "fat quarters". True, not expensive - great idea for a purse lining - but now you're talking about sewing. My aunt sewed beautifully; she was even able to make Barbie clothes for us. I can sew on buttons, and I've done some VERY simple rod-pocket curtains, but that's my limit. I was thinking about crocheting the cover of the loveseat, but those fat quarters could be perfect! I'll have to check them out. And thanks for your faith in me!
