pop can cover
I was doing some work and had a can of pop sitting nearby and got tired of shooing the flies away from my can. There has to be a better way, I thought to myself, I could have used a cup with a lid, but just got done with dishes,, their are 6 people here, so dirty cups are endless with 3 of them kids. so I stoped what I was doing and came up with this.. don't laugh it works great. now when they get dirty, I can just put them in one of them little nylon bags and throw them in the washer or just stick them in the dish water, hang them on a coat hanger with a clothes pin and air dry

* Pop Can Covers
needed:
#10 thread
0 hook
*ponytail holder (rubber band)
ch 2, sc in second chain from hook 6 x's
work in rounds, to keep track, I used a piece of different color thread
roll 1.- 2 sc in ea. st. around
roll 2 - 1 sc in first st, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 3 - 1 sc in first 2 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 4 - 1 sc in first 3 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 5 - 1 sc in first 4 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 6 - 1 sc in first 5 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 7 - 1 sc in first 6 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 8 - 1 sc in first 7 sts, 2 sc in next, repeat around
roll 9 - (adding rubber band), sc in ea. st. around going over the rubber
band
it looks small, but will stretch around the top of your pop can perfectly,
fitting right below the lip of the can.. have fun,
*
* alot of my family has already shown an interest in them and want some of
their own
I am adding a ruffel to it after attaching the rubber band, to make it easier to put on. (it will give you something to hang on to while putting it on) I didn't have a problem, but my dad did.. (hes 82) he has arthrites in his hands.
to add the ruffle
1.- chain 3 and 2 db cr in same st, *skip 2 stitches, sc in next st, skip 2 stitches, 3 db in next st, repeat around**. join
2.- slip st in middle of cluster, ch 3, 2 db in same st, *skip 2, sc in next st. skip 2, 3 db in next st, repeat around**, join and tie off or you can use your own favorite ruffle.
* have fun crocheting, .. Hugs, Kathy BearLast edited by Kathy B.; 05-24-2013 at 09:41 PM.
