My FIRST Granny Square EVER!!!!

I've done granny squares before

om my goodness how cool i remember learning from a book and finally getting it lol i was so happy grandma taught me to knit but for crochet i was on my own but determined to learn lol that was years ago and i estimate ive made a million since that first one lol good for you!!

I was looking at this and at first I didn't understand it at all. I never saw a basic granny start like that. Mine only have 4 double crochet clusters in the first round, not 8. I may have to review my technique. Yes, I have seen grannies like this but never considered it as basic. There are hundreds of ways to work a granny square.
