    What is this?

I have had this gadget for a looooong time but I don't really know what its proper use is. I cut cheese with it but it's cuts really thin. Would it be a chocolate shaver???????? I never heard of one but maybe.... I some times use it to serve something tiny with it. Anyone know what it is? it has a slot in the back bent edge and it is pretty sharp. I was told it is a cheese slicer/server. That's what we use it for, too.

That is a cheese slicer/server. I had one for many, many years until it got lost during a move. I really liked it, too. Works great for shaved chocolate or making butter curls(has to be almost frozen for this).--Jan

Thanks everyone! I guess i was on the right track after all!!! I have used it mostly for cheese. It slices so thin tho. I guess that's good ... the cheese goes farther doesn't it? Ha ha ... but then I just slice off a bit more!I never thought about the butter since I usually use not real butter or in tubs XOXOXOPatty

I did google it and man what a selections of images including one that looks like a mouse trap! I didn't know there was so many different kinds! I even clicked on "more" and it showed me MORE!!!! Looks like you could slice bananas too! and pickles! I wonder if I could use it on potatoes to make home made potato chips since I can never get them thin enough with a knife!!! Thanks MarjorieCrochets for that suggestion ! I enjoyed that tour!XOXOXO, Patty

Wow..and I thought I was the only one with one of those "thingies"...Been in my kitchen utilities drawer forever...Now that I know what it is I'll bring it out the next time I serve cheese and crackers...My guests can slice it themselves...It will save me time to prepare something else...
