If I'm recalling right the pattern was in a magazine called easy afghans. It was done in clusters with a chain in between to in crease you would work 2 clusters in the same ch until you get it to measure the size you want so You start with a loop and work 8 clusters ch between each and sl st in the top next round you would work 2 clusters with chain in between so you would have 16 and 16 sp you want to keep it round so the next round you would increase by 8 so it would be every other one. I used a fingering yarn on the one I made but a sports yarn would work great it is suppose to be 36" round. My sister takes the blankets to a friend that takes them out there. I have 2 sisters that live in CA. I will see if I can get an address when she gets off work tonight.

Anita and anyone that is interested in donating blankets or hats to City of Hope in CA I talked to my sister today and she said if you want to send them to her she would make sure they get to where they need to be. One of her friends was a cancer patient there and that is how she got started. Her friend is doing better and she picks them up from Margaret (sister) her address is
    Margaret Gandy
    947 E. Broadway
San Gabriel, CA 91776 They appreciate all the blankets and hats they get and seem to always need more.

Crocheting4u65: I'm not familiar with City of Hope. Is it babies and premies that they need donations for? Baby blankets and little hats? Or do they care for adults, too?

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. There is so much need everywhere.
