    Some hats by a noob

I'm new to the forum and to crochet, but I thought I would share some hats I just finished.

I made them for a cousin's day and tied them all in with the grey. They went over really well. The puff stitch red, black and white is a bun hat and the purple puff stitch is a slouchy.

(Not sure why the pictures are sideways... lol but you get the idea.

Cute hats. I always make hats that fit me too tight.

How do you start your hats? Two of those where started at the crown and the other two at the brim.

For the crown starters I increased for 6 rounds starting with a ch 4 and putting 11 dc into first chain and sl st to join for 12 sts. Chain three and increase each row until it's the correct size. Since these these were for guys, I measured my head all the way around and divided the inches by 3.142. This will give you the diameter you need. For my hats, that was about 7" so I kept making my rounds until the disc was about 7" across.

For the brim starters I used the camel stitch for both starting with a chain 12. One was a sc-blo and the other dc-blo back and forth until it almost fit around my head since these were for ladies, and joined the two ends.

    Hope that helps some!

Thank you tulip. The pictures were taken with my phone. Very handy that. Funny thing is, they are the correct orientation on my phone but posted sideways. Haha.
