shawl, poncho, etc.
My sister wants a wrap to throw on without the hassle of putting on a coat to take her little dog outside. I don't want it to look like a "granny" garment. Now here's some other "needy" details:
Not lacy
One piece (I don't sew parts together)
She can't stand a small neck opening pulling over her head
I have already bought the yarn - Vanna's choice (a beige tweed color)
Using an H or I hook
I have already looked at a dozen pattern sites and just can't find the right one.
Hope one you can help me.
Thanks,
Pam
Wow, I just re-read this and I sound so whiny and needy - lol

Just trying to get an idea of what would be a suitable style...how about something along the lines of this pattern: Log In / Join the Lion Brand community to get free knitting and free crochet patterns and more!
I know this doesn't meet your wish list re hook size.

thank you for both
I think I will have to end up changing hook sizes
don't know why, but just don't enjoy working with the big hooks
guess I'll have to convert
I like both of these patterns
thanks,
pam

Don’t know where you live but I have Tons of books on shawls.....love, love, love them. I get nice yarn for free shipping so can use cashmere, silk, and even Yak. Yak is 8X warmer than wool. Just made a big shawl with several matching hats for a woman who is spending winter in Massachusetts. Took 4 days and gave her one of my Scottish lambswool under shawl.i felt so good about that one. She said she’d never had anything so elegant. When she isn’t wearing it, she is stroking it.

I made this and it was very simple to make. It is basically a rectangle with a pretty border.
