Head bands
Hello, I am wanting to make a few head bands for my cousins 5yr old. I know there are stitches that are more flexible than others so but don't know which one. Since I can't measure her head what stitch would be "stretchy" to use ?? Is there one yarn better than others for stretchiness!!!! Thanks so much have a great day Hugs Winnie

Hi Winnie,
I had crocheted a square using a bigger crochet hook and ended up with a big square and then (for the last rows it looks like 2 rows) I did the afghan stitch. The square w/ the afghan stitch stretches to fit over a pillow. If you know how to knit - that has some stretch to it too.
As far as the yarn goes, it looks like (it was such a long time ago that I crocheted the big square) I used a thicker yarn ( a little thicker than 4-ply) The yarn doesn't have a stretch to it but I just pulled on one corner of the square I have around the pillow and it was stretchy.
