I am trying this with regular yarn right now and it is working out so nicely..Have been hunting high and low for a shawl pattern that is not complicated and works up fast.Thanks for the link..

I've made a lot of shawls and my very favorite yarn to use is Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable. It's a very soft, light-weight yarn so your shawl doesn't come out chunky or rough. It comes in different color combinations and it's what is called a "long ombre." It's sort of like a varigated yarn only the different colors have more distance so it turns out to be only 2-3 colors for an entire row. The finished product looks like you've used many colors of yarn and it's all from the same skein.

And my very favorite shawl pattern is called Eva's Shawl. Here's the pattern:
