Have you used scented yarn?
Good afternoon,
Have any of you used scented yarn? I have heard of it briefly, but have never actually found it.
I am really curious about it. I did not know how long the scent would last. I wondered if the scent is refreshed in any way.
Thanks!

Hi Barbi,
It's the first time I heard of scented yarn. Maybe this is because this type of yarn is not available here in my country (which is tropical) since the scent would evaporate fast Given the chance, I would like to try it too since I am kind of on the adventurous type... The downside is that the chemicals used for the fragrances can affect some sensitive people, although there are those who say otherwise. Anyway, just to be on the safe side, make sure to read the fine print first before buying these yarns since what may be relaxing to you and soothing to your olfactory nerves may not be good to your overall health in the long run.

Hello,
Yes, I will have to do some research on this. If the scents are natural, it would be better. But, if you are making something for a baby that would be putting things in her mouth, definitely would need to be cautious!

It's not something I've ever seen for sale here in the UK. I have come across plenty of smelly yarn but I don't quite think that's the same thing!! I would be concerned that the scent would be quite overpowering, like those plug in air fresheners which can smell quite "chemically" and give me a headache. I also can't see how the scent would remain after washing, especially if you are using a scented washing powder and fabric conditioner.

Never heard of it but I know I wash whatever I have made after I am done and use a nice scented Fabric Softner...

I have seen it at either AC Moore or Michaels but never used it. If it was for a gift item, you would have to make sure the recipient would like the scent and not be allergic either. I use a little bit of scented fabric softener for my own laundry but never used it for the items I donate.

I'm not sure about this...on the one hand it would be nice if it smelled good but on the other you might find someone that didn't like the same scent as you. Hummm.....and there is the possibility of allergic reactions too.
