2 strands
when a pattern calls for using 2 strands, how do you do that? do you have 2 balls of yarn? do you wind a second ball and use that?

I often use two or three stands, depending on the project. I just use a skein for each color, keep them separated so they don't tangle amongst themselves and crochet pulling them together. Hope I haven't confused you. I put my skeins in snapware containers for yarn, but you can do whatever is the easiest for you.

Thank you , I was wondering about that,, I'm not sure I'm talented enough to not get them tangled,,but I plan on trying!

Justlinda, it really isn't that hard; there is a finger thingy that doesn't let the yarn tangle, but I find it more of a pain. Hope this helps.

You can just put one ball/skein in a plastic baggy and the other ball/skein in another plastic baggy keeping and puul the end out from each and hold them together and just knit or crochet with it. that's all there is to it.

You got some good suggestions about the yarn. The good thing about projects with 2 strands is that they go quickly - you will be amazed how much you can accomplish in a short time.
I made an afghan long ago with 3 strands of yarn and a giant hook and it went so fast. Just be sure to pick up both strands when you are working.

I will pay close attention, thank you !

I usually wind two skeins together. That way, if there are knots or yarn vomit, I can take care of the mess BEFORE I start working.
