I have never seen the number symbol (#) in a pattern. I looked all over the internet and couldn't find any reference to it in reading crochet patterns. Maybe it just means the number of chains, in other words ch #2, means to chain 2 stitches.
You could try it that way and see if it turns out. You can frog it if it doesn't. Sometimes you need to just forge ahead with a pattern before you can tell if you are doing it right or not.Annette

Would it be possible (if allowed) to post just the instructions for that row which has that particular pattern or the link to the pattern so we can see exactly what it is referring to. I also do not recall seeing a # sign in a pattern either. Thanks.

Hi Seanman, I was looking at the instructions you showed. In the "special stitch" section of you pattern, was there an instruction for the ch2#? If not, I would say that it is simply chain 2 then double crochet in next single crochet. Good Luck. Please let us know how it worked out for you. Later Gater! Kit
