I think I would cut them about 1" wide and use a large hook, like a Q.

I made two small rugs for granddaughter's bathroom...cut about 1 inch strips and used Q hook...but even that was a lot of cutting...won't be making anymore for a long time.

Billie, that's what I thought. My hands can't handle that much cutting. That's why I'm making a crochet rag rug using old sheets. You can just snip a start, and then tear the strips. It is easy that way.

If you make a rug using sheets- go to Good Will and get them - really reasonable there- lots of fabric. Can dye them in washer with Rit Dye to get some color in your rug.

The family also doesn't let my hubby near hedge trimmers. He was always the sort to get carried away, and keep trimming, and trimming. He has scalped our bushes so many times. It's a good thing he wasn't a hairdresser - he would have been sued!

That is so funny!!! Makes me remember the time we were going for first time family portraits, my wonderful husband took our 6 yr old son to the basement with a pair of clippers, I was so mad and upset at the results!!!!!!!!!! That was in the 70's when longer hair on males was the in thing. I felt like taking the clippers on him, but then I'd have to look at him. Long time ago, now I use the clippers on him an give him a buzz, but that's the in thing now. Can't win I guess. Ahhh memories lol.
