slip stitch
If you put in a slip stitch the regular way ( putting in the hook from front to back) you will have a tighter stitch. If you do the invisible stitch (putting in the hook from back to front) then you will have a looser stitch. The invisible slip stitch looks good on a darker color yarn. The regular way to do a sl st (putting hook in stitch from front to back) looks good on a lighter color yarn; or you can crochet a slip stitch both the regular way and have the invisible slip stitch on the same hat. It looks good to have the tighter sl sts on the top of the hat (which is the first 5 rnds on this hat 5 Little Monsters: Crocheted Unicorn Hat with Flowers You might like the invisible stitch on the sides of the hat but then again you might want to mix it up and do both regular and invisible slip stitches on the same hat.
