    Question Turning the workpiece

Does it matter which way the workpiece is turned at the end of each row as long as it is done consistently throughout?

I understand that you may do it either way but just ALWAYS do it the same way. I think it would be easier to learn to use the standard way so if you have a problem you can use direction from most people. Just me and the easy way.

I think I do like libertylady. I crochet right to left, I think. I am righthanded.

I didn't know there was a standard way to turning the workpiece. One of those little details passed over teaching myself to crochet when I was a kid. As I remember it took awhile before realizing that consistency was important. You can imagine how raggedy the edges were! LOL!
I'm righthanded and turn anticlockwise to the right.

Thank you to all of you for the info. You're the best!

Believe me, I can imagine! Or I can take a picture of some of my early attempts.........I was not only turning incorrectly, I was struggling with the whole turning chain concept. I learned to crochet from a kit from Walmart. I thought I just needed to practise more. It finally dawned on me to look up video tutorials on You Tube, that maybe it was my technique that needed help. I was getting so frustrated, I stopped crocheting several times.

I am very proud of myself! I stuck to it and am happily crocheting now.

Kinda got a wave pattern going there. :-) Wouldn't it be great if we could consciously do that while crocheting a ripple/wave afghan for even more visual interest? No edging needed! LOL! Yep, I'm a lunatic...
