It is my understanding that on row 19 you are supposed to go around rows 17 and 18 so instead of 2 rows you will have 1 row.

Yes., I am right handed. Placed the image in my scanner to get a clearer picture than I can get with my camera. And then I rotated it 180 to the right.

Jean Marie, I think I have got it? I read your post on how hard it is getting for you to crochet and it made me cry. My husband has severe arthritis throughout his body and just says "you have to keep on going!" One way or another he manages to get done what needs to be done.

I don't remember saying that crocheting was hard to do unless you're talking about when I had a sore shoulder. I imagine I had a sore shoulder from crocheting too much. My shoulders are fine. Thank you for being concerned about me.

OMG, two more rows and I am stuck again.
I don't know how to slst down the side of the brim, or where/what they mean by the base of the hat, or what seam?
Row 28) slst down the side of the brim, once you reach the base of the hat sc in each st until you reach the seam, slst to join, ch1
Row 29) sc around the entire hat, slst to join.
