help with shawl
Hi
I am a intermediate crocheter but I'm really having trouble on a shawl pattern in the first row!
It is an orisons mohair pattern by interweave.
The beginning of the pattern is
Make an adjustable ring.
Foundation Row: Ch 6 (counts as tr, ch
2 here and throughout), tr in ring, [ch 2, tr]
5 times in rings, turn—7 tr, tighten ring
to close.
.
Row 1: Ch 6, tr in first st, *tr in each of
next 6 sts, sk next 2 sts, tr in each of next
6 sts, V-st in next st*; rep from * 5 times,
**tr in each of next 6 sts, sk next 2 sts, tr
in next st, sk next st, V-st in each of next 2
sts, sk next st, tr in next st, sk next 2 sts, tr
in each of next 6 sts, V-st in next st**; rep
from * to * 5 times; rep from ** to ** once;
rep from * to * 6 times, turn.
(I'm not sure how to insert image of pattern here I'm afraid)
Now if I turn my work after the ring, I only have 7 trebles and chain 2 spaces. Not enough stitiches for what is required in row 1. What am I missing here??
Any help would be great! Thanks

05-24-2018, 02:18 PM #2Sarah78, I tried your instructions by writing them out on a piece of paper at the same time I was crocheting them. I think you are supposed to turn the work after you do the last 5 tr then start the next 6 tr. It looks like you are at the point of the shawl and increasing as you go up the shawl. Also you can contact the site where you purchased the pattern and they can help you too. See if that works for you.
If not and you have the pattern on your computer you can copy it from your computer to a post. There are some help aids on this forum that tells you how to do that.
Also I mentioned your problem to one of the other ladies on this forum who is quite good at figuring out how to do something and she may be able to help you too.
Row 1: Ch 6, tr in first st, *tr in each of
next 6 sts, sk next 2 sts, tr in each of next
6 sts, V-st in next st*; rep from * 5 times, Turn work here
**tr in each of next 6 sts, sk next 2 sts, tr
in next st, sk next st, V-st in each of next 2
sts, sk next st, tr in next st, sk next 2 sts, tr
in each of next 6 sts, V-st in next st**; rep
from * to * 5 times; rep from ** to ** once;
rep from * to * 6 times, turn.
I am sorry I could not have been more helpful

To post a picture click on 'go advanced' If you don't see that then click on 'reply' and then you'll see 'go advanced' Either way click on 'go advanced' Then click on the paper clip just above where you would type a message. Then click on 'add files' and then 'browse' Select a picture by clicking on it and then click 'open' and then 'upload' If you want another picture you can do this again. You can upload 5 pictures and when you're done click 'done' You won't see the pictures but click on the arrow by the paper clip and then click on the picture that comes up in the box and your picture will be in the message box where you would type a message.

First of all it says row not rnd. After you ch 6 it says to tr in ring. what ring? unless you're supposed to ss the 6 chains into a ring before you start row 1 but then again it says row 1 not rnd 1. Every time you make a v st you're adding 1 more st.
If you start w/ a magic ring on the foundation row and then starting on row 1 you are working in rows.

Hi Jean Marie, I knew you would try to help her. The pattern does say row not rounds.
It also says to take an adjustable ring or Magic ring to start with see below the first part she wrote. So in this case her first Tr is in the ring not ss the chain 6 together.
Make an adjustable ring.
Foundation Row: Ch 6 (counts as tr, ch
2 here and throughout), tr in ring, [ch 2, tr]
5 times in rings, turn—7 tr, tighten ring
to close.
Here is the name of the pattern she is working on.orisons mohair pattern by interweave.
Glad you are here to help Jean Marie,

Are you supposed to make row 1 a bunch of times and then attach them together cause that's the bottom of the shawl.
row 1 - If you turn after the V stitch and chain 6 and tr in first st and then in ea of next 6, skip 2 and tr in ea of next 6 and V st in next st and turn every time after the V st you will have a V st at the beg and end of row. Again you're going to have to chain 6 before the 2 ** and then you might have to tr in 1st st before doing a tr in ea of the the next 6.
On row 1 before the *; rep 5 times I count 21sts. The ch 6 is 3 sts ( a tr and ch 2) The V st is 3 sts ( a tr, a ch and a tr) a V st is 4 sts if it's a ch 2 V stitchLast edited by Jean Marie; 05-28-2018 at 07:18 AM.

Hi rmpbklyn,
How far did you get on the pattern or do you still need help?
