Help please!! New to crochet and loosing the will to live!
I taught myself to crochet a few months ago and have definately got the bug but I have hit my first problem on a pattern and just cannot make sense of it.
I am working in the round all sc and have 15sc and have chained 2 and turned. The next line says-
Crochet in every one of the first 3 sc's two dc's together (in first sc chain 2 and 1 dc together). 1 ss in next 8 sc's and in every one of the last 4sc's crochet two dc's together. Join, chain 2 and turn (15)
What does it mean by two dc's together. I assumed in meant two dc's in each first 3 stitches and the same in the last 4 but that would be an increase of 7 so I wouldnt still have 15. I am confused. Please help

it's 2 dc together in the first 3 sc's counting the chain 2 as a dc. That's crocheting in the first 3 sc's. You have 12 sts. left in rnd. 1 ss in next 8 sc's - now you have 4 sts left on rnd. and in the last 4 sts. crochet 2 dc tog twice. That's the 15 sts. from rnd. 1. You will have less than 15 sts. at the end of rnd. 2

Ah ok thank you. It confused me as I thought with it saying (15) at the end i should still have 15 stitches and either way I looked at it that didnt work. Thank you so much

I believe the issue you’re facing lies in your first stitch of the round. Assuming that the ch 2 does not count as a dc, you are supposed to dc in the same st as the ch 2, then as you surmised, two dc in each of the stitches you’ve already discerned. If that turning ch does not count as a dc, you’d therefore have 7 from the start of the round, then 8 after your slipstitches, thus giving you 15 total. Just my take on it. Good luck!

2 dcs tog - yarn over ,pull up loop thru stitch, that’s 3 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull thru 2 loops, that’s 2 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull loop thru same stitch, that’s 3 loops on hook. Yarn over, pull thru 2 loops, yarn over again, pull thru 2 loops. Done. That’s 2 dcs together and one loop on hook. Count it as one stitch.
