Hello everyone! Not only am I a newbie to this community, I'm also fairly new to the crocheting world in general. My husband's grandmother recently passed away at the ripe young age of 95. She was an avid crocheter and one of her greatest joys was crocheting afghans to give away to practically anyone who ever crossed her path. Being the only other "hooker" in the family, I have been given the honor of completing the most recent gift that she was unable to finish. I was able to figure out the pattern she was using for the body of the piece, but do not have the slightest idea of how to add the trim! The attached picture is an example of her standard technique and my hope is that someone here can tell me how she did it. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
I agree with Susann about the double crochet 3 then chain one. I'll add, in the pic to me it looks like just 6 doubles in the corner with a chain 1 before and after the 6 doubles. Hope that helps. Good luck and welcome!
After zooming in as far as I can, I think it may just be single crochets wrapped around the previous chain spacesinstead of going into the top of it. You may want to try that as well. Just remember, if you don't like it you can always pull it out. Trial and error are usually the best methods.
