    Crochet for Sick Kids Foundation

Ok so heres what I am thinking of doing. I want to start a group and maybe if it works out it can grow to a charity thing. Ive looked into non profit organizations and how they work. So anyways, my thought are to make crochet toys for sick kids in hospitals and out of them too. I would design a toy that can take a beating and make a pattern so it can be made over and over. I would get people to donate money to buy materials and put together a group of people who love crocheting and if they could each make a toy or 2 a month and we can pool them all together and hit up a hospital. I could make a facebook page and a contact list of all the people involved. I think that would be very awesome. I was thinking something along the line of this picture Im posting.Crochet for Sick Kids Foundation-155-jpgCrochet for Sick Kids Foundation-154-jpgCrochet for Sick Kids Foundation-153-jpg

Let me know what you all think about this.

Its a great idea. Whenever I have tried to crochet toys they never look even remotely right, something just doesn't click between my ears I guess. But I think it is a great idea and I admire you putting the group together. Way to go!!!

    Hello,

Just a thought to check with several different hospitals to make sure they will allow the crocheted toys. They may have some guidelines which would be useful to know..nice idea in my opinion.

This is a great idea. I belong to a group at church called "knitwits", and we crochet and knit different projects for charities.
You may want to think about presenting a knitting pattern for your toys as well as crochet. Hope you will post what you find out
and what and how you plan to implement your idea! peggkel

Remember no buttons for eyes, noses, etc. I was told this by several charities.
Have you picked something national that we all would be familiar with?
St Jude's would be a good one for example.
Cute hats for chemo children. There are so many good patterns.
Baby blankets, chemo hats and toys.
There is so much we all could do.
    Just my rambling thoughts.
    Pam
