    Cool Cheap polyester fill idea

    Good Morning!
I'm always crocheting animals and toys for my Grandchildren
Therefore I was always running out of polyester stuffing.
That stuff is not cheap even with a coupon.
Last week I got an idea at Wal-Mart.
They had really cheap pillows on sale for only $2.88!
I bought two and you wouldn't believe how much stuffing is in there.
I'll be buying cheap pillows from now on!

Thank you ever so much. I will be starting Christmas gifts and many of them require stuffing. This will save a lot of money and such an easy way to bring stuffing home! Again, thank you ever so much for takin the time to share this great tip!

Mrs. P, you are a GENIUS! I've been staying away from stuffed patterns, because I always have a warehouse-full of yarn and crochet thread around the house; (Seriously. The only clothes IN my closet are my dresses!!) But there was never any fiberfill. I've even been known to take a very old sheet from the second-hand store and cut it into thin strips and then use it to stuff dolls.
A lesson I learned the hard way (No pun intended) is no matter how you stuff your crochet stuffies; give thought to the person who will receive it as to how densely you stuff it. Babies prefer soft, floppy toys, (as I learned when my son was a bitty fellow and flatly refused the nice densely stuff , bend ...whereas toddlers and older children are more partial to firmer stuffies.
And a very wise woman changed the way I will look at the cheap pillows in Wal-Mart. (... and Kmart, and Target, and Big Lots, and BB&B, and Ross, and ... and ... and ... ad infinitum.)

  13. Thanks sunrise thanked for this post
