Prayer Shawl
Hi Everyone,
What is your favorite prayer shawl pattern?
I've used a simple double crochet, but that gets a little boring. Now I'm experimenting with a pattern that does one row of double crochet and one row of three doubles and one chain/skip. It's OK, but I would like to find one that I can use Simply Soft and have something really pretty. Any suggestions?

Good morning,
I was looking at some prayer shawl patterns by simply soft and came across this one for an adult:

Wow - that is a really unique pattern. It may be beyond my beginner skills, but I'm going to bookmark it for the future!

DonnaJN,
I will look for others, too. When I searched for the terms "prayer shawl" they all seemed to be like the one above. I will also search for "shawl" and maybe it will come up with simpler patterns.

Prayer Shawl
An easy pattern is to start your row: 1 dc in each of chain. Chain 1, do 7 triple crochets in 3rd stitch. Chain 1. Do 1 dc in next 2 chains. Repeat to end & end with 4 dc in last 4 chains.
2nd row: sc in top of dc and chain to middle tc, do slip stitch, chain to dc, sc in each of dc, etc.
3rd row: Repeat 1st row.
4th row: Repeat 2nd row.
YOu can make this as wide or narrow as you want. It looks lovely and is comfortable done in Simply Soft yarn.

Hi Donna, For a lot of my afghans, I use a single crochet, double crochet, across, ending with double crochet. It makes a nice pattern stitch. I have only made one prayer shawl, and it was a triangle shape done in half double stitches.

Prayer Shawl
Would like to make a prayer shawl. Haven't croched in years. Hoping it will come back to me. Would love a very simple pattern. What kind of yarn to use and what size needle? Thanks
