Broomstick lace may have been originally done with a broomstick but it can be done with almost any reasonably sized knitting needle, a Popsicle stick, a ruler, a dowel stick, stiff cardboard cut to the desired width or even a credit card. If you have never tried it you should make yourself a swatch. It is a fun stitch and has many uses.
