Me also, I have to feel the yarn before I buy it ! Sometimes I buy it on line but make sure I can return it. So far I've had good luck with Caron.

Hi,
I have found over a little bit of time that, I like Lion Brand Yarn and Vanna's Choice because they were so easy to use after using Red Heart for a long time. I also have used Loops and Threads and Caron Simply Soft. The latter yarn is nice to crochet with but, I agree it really doesn't hold up as well.

I like the Red Heart yarn, Super Saver, and I Love This Yarn. I have bought Herrschners and Mary Maxim yarns. They are pretty good. Just depends what I am making. I love the really soft yarns for baby things.

I use Red Heart, Bernat, Caron Simply Soft, and Caron One Pounders. I would have to say that the Loves Red Heart line is probably my favorite, (super soft and works up really nice) but is very difficult to find.

I much prefer using the softer yarns for like Amigurumi's . As Red heart yarn splits when I'm doing the tight stitches.

I like Red Heart Super Saver and I Love This Yarn. I will buy softer, baby yarn for baby projects. I also like working with sock yarns.

I am curious about what yarn is best also. I would like to know what makes yarn so expensive? And if anyone has found an online outlet that has yarn at a reasonable price? There is only one place to buy regular yarn ( not special handmade yarn) in my area.
