Changing blanket size

I have a blanket pattern that uses an H hook and size 4 yarn.If I use a G hook and size 3 yarn how much smaller will the blanket be?

If you crochet a guage swatch and compare it to the guage the pattern says it will give you an estimate. I dont know a shortcut, maybe someone else does. Hope this helps. Kitty

I agree also, a gauge swatch will give you a better idea of the width and height.
