    Hi,
I taught myself with the help of a small Coats and Clark book 50 years ago.

I bought a teach yourself book about 40 years ago and taught myself to crochet. the very first doily I made was a hexagon with a monstrous ruffle that stood up in waves when you starched it. I've been making doilies, lace edgings and what ever ever else I can afford to buy thread for ever since.
