Thanks Jean Marie. I always change my yarn that way, except I only carry the new color in the new work. I'm always afraid the other color would show through. And I weave in the first color with the previous work. I'm glad to see that it doesn't always show through.
    Thanks,
    Joy Ann

I do it that way except i square knot the ends first. I know , it's like the guy who wears a belt and suspenders. but my stitches are not coming out in the wash, nohow! To be fair, i work in thread where it looks knotty anyway,so it isn't as noticeable.

Thanks for posting this! I saw this once before but didn't know where I saw it. Now I'm going to save this thread so I have it at my finger tips. This is awesome!

This is the first method I learned. It's still a great way to do it.---esp in DC and SC and spikes etc.. If I have a alot of chains in my work I still prefer to do a join BUT I do the lazy way and it works well. Don't know what it's called. I use the embroidery dull point needle (smallest one I can for the yarn--like a #18 or #20) and feed thru 2inches right thru the center of the twist ; then thread the other one and feed thru the center of other yarn 2inches and test it with a pull.and trim. I never leave ends but prefer to handle as I go ...I can really see how it's looking and don't have all the weaving to do later. One of the best decisions I've made is to stay away from those large yarn needles! thanks

I always start a double crochet row with a chain 2. This doesn't leave a hole on the side of your work.

I do this too when chaning colours. But if I am adding another ball, I use the magic knot method. In crochet the tiny knot is easy to hide. In knitting it might be a little more visible depending on the stitch tht is being used.
