I always start a double crochet row with a chain 2. This doesn't leave a hole on the side of your work.

I did that also, but now, especially if it's getting a trim, or being seamed. Now, I do a large sc, and then ignore it. and proceed with the first stitch. I never count that turning sc. It works good.

Wow. That is awesome. It looks no different than an extra fuzzy on the yarn. And way better than the knots you find in the skein yourself. I've only hear of the magic circle before this. Love it!!!

You're welcome. I love the magic knot. Use it 99% of the time to join jarn. If done properly it is virtually invisible and strong.
