    The following paragraph from the article is pure nonsense:

    The writer has it reversed.

    Yes, knitting is harder to learn. But once you've aced it, the resulting fabric is nicer, not so dense as crocheted fabric. Knitting looks more like weaving and crocheting is a series of knots.
