Thank u Crochetgal. I know I have to be more disciplined about doing my” homework” first tours why I never liked sewing. Taxing, pining, cutting, basting, yuk, to many steps. LOL

Hi,Lisa,
I have fibromyalgia, too, along with some other health problems. I know what you mean about clothing fitting loosely. My tender points feel like bruises. It's so nice to find a pattern for something pretty that doesn't make you look slouchy due to a loose fit. This sweater coat is gorgeous. Seems like everything I am comfortable wearing looks like pajamas. Not this beautiful thing! Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Try to feel good.

I hear you on those bruises. There are more mornings I care to remember where I have felt as though someone snuck into my room at night and beat me half to death with a baseball bat. Then there are the days in which that along the arthritis that has decided to take up residence in my back and hip, and the RSD kicks in and “LORD have mercy”. Who knew pain could reside in so many places at one time, and have so many different sensations. I have taken to making my own skirts and a few easy dresses to keep as much fabric from touching me as possible but still I feel like I look slouchy. I guess it is just one more thing I need to except with age. I just need to find a way to do it more grace. Lol
When it comes to jackets it is so hard to find something that is not binding in the upper back and shoulders. The sad thing also is we can’t just go out shopping and trying things on. After a couple of clothes changes my body says “enough!” and I say “RATS”. I am hoping that with taking this class I will be able to covert some of these patterns to fit and feel good. At least I that is my hope.

Speaking of all this pain I gotta tell ya, I broke my back and herniated a disc under the break and for almost a year they told me nothing was wrong. Then a doctor said I have fibromyalgia but by then the pain had became isolated to the center of my back between my shoulder blades I knew he was wrong. Finally my doctor ordered a MRI and they called and said "honey, you broke your back". Then a specialist had a simple X-Ray and you could clearly see the break, if the hospital would have done that in the first place. My spine looks like the leaning tower of pizza as the specialist put it. Sense then I see a surgeon and he wants to grind up one of my ribs to put into my back with screws but my bones are not strong enough to hold the screws so I take bone growth shots every day for about another year now. Meanwhile I've had pain in my right shoulder sense I broke my back and my new doctor ordered another MRI and I also tore the ligaments in my shoulder when I broke my back.
So trying on clothes, changing and everything else is extremely painful. Crocheting is even painful but I can't stop.Lin

Lin, I feel so bad for you. those bone growth shots are probably painful as well. I don't mean the shot as much as how the drug works.
Lisa Pete, I'm so sorry you have so much pain. I actually can relate to you both as I have multiple problems.
About clothes, I keep trying to listen to the advice designers give about good fit for body types. Like less material is good, cause extra material just makes you look bulkier. And if you do learn how to adjust patterns, by making them loose, but still having a shape to them that fits your body, that should really help. ie. look at the beautifuly, intricate, delicate work that went into crocheting4u65's wedding dress for her granddaughter. It looks so comfortable. It fits her perfectly, and compliments her figure. That's the best u could ask for. I heard a suggestion too that helped. Try on some thing that you like, but wouldn'[t think they'd look good on you. Maybe a day that you took a friend to help. And maybe it's only sweaters. But it does help you get an idea of what will work for you. I tried it and was surprised. Also, if making clothes for yourself, don't use anything over worsted weight, and under would really keep from adding additional bulk. But you could still get comfort and warmth. Or add a comfy crocheted belt in the right spot to empasize your waist and maybe allow more of a loose fit at your hips. A small print is better than a big print. And all black can just look like a big blob if you can't see any definition. Flesh matching shoes gives you the illusion of longer legs. I you want stripes, they need to be placed strategically. You get the idea. We need designers that will incorporate these ideas in their patterns, and not just size it for larger women and think it will look good and fit right. You can use "google" to find other tips. Hope this helps.

Lin, Honey, where do you live? I believe I would be consulting an attorney. By them not finding the break when you sought treatment, your problem worse. And don't let them mess with your ribs, Hon. When they did the fusion in my neck, they used bone from the bone bank. Yes, it is cadaver bone, donated by people when they die. It is tested, sterile, free of disease. It kept me from being cut again (they would've chipped bone off my pelvis). I had one less cut, one less place to get infection. And you're waiting & taking all these unnecessary shots. At least get another opinion, maybe in another town, away from the same bunch of drs who have been friends for years. Sounds like they have & are still harming you. Sorry I'm so opinionated!! Jane
