Hello everyone I am the mother of 2 grown sons and 3 grand children. I have been married to my husband for 15 years. I taught myself to crochet about 30 years ago. I have made many baby layettes. But just recently started crocheting doilies. I never thought I could use smaller hooks so I had my mom make my doilies. Now that my mom is no longer with me I am on my own to make my own doilies.

Question
Hi thank you so much for all the welcomes. I do have a question I have been getting patterns of doilies from old books and magazines. Was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find a comparison chart for different crochet cottons. Some of these brands from old books are not around any more and the weights they show do not make sense. Usually I use #10 crochet cotton which is bedspread weight. One example they are calling for Phildar Perle 8. I am not sure what this is comparable to. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.
