    depends on what type of grannie square you are doing. Always chain 4 or 5. Than u would slip stitch into the first chain. Chain 2 then double crochet chain 3 then double crochet. Like i said before depending on the grannie square you are working on. I also find that if you watch you tube at all, search how to make a grannie square and poof you have millions to choose from. I like tmj or mikeysmalls i believe his name is. Good luck and i hope this helps. let us know how Ur doing and like others have said before practice practice and yep practice.
