Hi Nikki Jayne and welcome.
I am also in the UK I’m in Devon and self taught with some help from you tube as I’m a lefty it was nice to see that I could find some help on there for left handed crochet as I’ve only been doing it myself for five years but have come a long way in those five years and I had a tendency to doubt myself but the things I have made say otherwise.
I do prefer to follow a written pattern if possible.

I could never understand written patterns when I started to learn, but now 5 years on, I can use both and understand both
