I think with a group we learn so much from each other--share patterns, correct mistakes, exchange yarns ( we are using every little bit of yarn so some hats can be scrappy like in quilting. This is like the old fashioned quilting bees of days of old. Women still have the same social needs of women over the years but in this high tech world we miss out on the human one on one factor.

I belong to a group of moms who meet every Wednesday. Our kids are all within a couple years of each other and since we homeschool, it is much looked forward to social event every week. It just so happens all of women are writers as well. So we have lots to talk about and have vowed to keep meeting even after the kids grow up. I brought my crocheting a few weeks ago to work on while we sat together and one of the gals remarked that it was comforting and relaxing to watch me crochet. I thought that was pretty cool. Sadly, none of them crochet very regularly.
