Hello Folks, I am a member of the Fibro/disconective tis/arthritise/restless leg syn/post tram stress/depression/narcolepsy/neroupethy/GHRD/you name it I seem to have it. I am now 52. When I started asking my doctors about it at age 17 they all said I was over streesed, just after effects of the flu/work/exercise/lack of exercise/it was all in my head/blah blah blah. It was not until 2010 when an auto accident made them all flair so bad that I finally found my current doctor listening to me. After many tests and multiple medication trials, my sleep specialist finally stated that the restless leg syndrome was agravating everything so badly that I was not actually sleeping. 1800mgs of horizant every night has allowed me to actually start sleeping 4 to sometimes 7 hours straight! while it has not stopped the pain(and that I do understand) at least I can some times get through my day now. One of the things I have done for years and did not realise was an old time treatment for "bad body humors" was a hot bath soak, sometimes with epson salt, now I am talking 1 to 3 hours of tub time. I know it sounds rather funky, but it really and truly has saved my sanity. The side affects of Lyrica, Simbaulta ect, ect, ect were all too much for me to handle. But the horizant (and believe me it has its' own) has helped.

Hi again!!(LOL) I do not mean to be a pest, but, I just wanted to say that (if you all don"t mind) I would like to include all in my prayers tonight. May all be better tomorrow and maybe just a wee bit better each and every day thereafter! Thank you all for just being you.

Hi, Everybody,
I am in the boat with you. I have Fibromyalgia, Disc Degenerative Disease, Neurofibromatosis.& if they tested me I probably have rheumatoid arthritis. My mom & sister do. In fact, Momma has rheumatoid & osteo arthritis. I fought over 6 yrs to get Social Security Disability, had 2 different lawyers. When they finally gave it to me, they told me they will review my case every 24 mths because I was under 50 yrs old when they gave it to me. I too take Cymbalta, topirinate, zanaflex, ativan, percoset, & acyclovir for recurring shingles. They pop up every time I get upset without it. Let me tell you, shingles are no fun. I get so tired of this. I also have an implanted pain pump that is pumping dilaudid into my spineal fluid all the time. I am still in pain. Most days I spend more time in bed than out. If I do too much, I pay dearly. Thanks for allowing me to vent.
Hugs, Jane

Jane, I still say they don't know how to treat fibro. It is a combination of diseases. Rheumatoid arthritis is hereditary. my daughters both have it. I have it. My mother had it & fibro. Different stateS are harder to get disability in than others. Today was a lousy day. Started okay, but went to hell in a handbasket.Hugs, Judy

I understand each of you. The going from dr to dr. Their pain scale from 1-10 is a joke. I live everyday of my life at a 7, at least. I would be happy & dancing if I could know what 4 or 5 felt like. I don't sleep. Pain wakes me every 2-3 hrs all night. It is a hateful way to live. Others who don't live with this would never believe it. Thanks again, just for listening & caring.
Hugs, Jane

Kitty Jean, there is nothing funky about something that helps the pain, If it works for you do it..
I feel horrible complaining about my aches and pains, I never had that bad, but the Back pain is still there but manageable with the Nerve Blockers, I couldn't survive without them. Thank God for them, but the government is trying to get them so they don't have to pay, but if I have to go without food I will find the money to get them.

Wow, Ladies. I will never look at myself the same. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis when I was 24 years old. I'm 61 now. The arthritis is in my loer lumbar and I have to get shots every 4 months in order to be able to move. The arthritis is so bad that it is now hitting the nerve in my back. So periodically I get these electrical shock sensations, which says it's advancing quicker than I anticipated. I'm waiting now to get Lyrica to help with that. I do have lower lumbar spinal stenosis. I'm trying my best to stay upright. I am also a diabetic, taking cholesterol high-blood pressure medications. Those 2 are actually doing alright. They just recently found that I've lost the fluid in my right knee and they're planning on shooting me with a fluid that will help. I'm a little scared of these new things. I have to sleep on pillows, keep my head upright or I wake up choking. That's due to a deviated septum. My leges hurt during the night and I never sleerp all night. My knees hurt when they're straight and they hurt when they're bent. There's no getting around the arthritis.

Dear Meerkat, Whoa there girl!!! Back pain is nothing to sneeze at! As a home duty nurse for years I can tell you about what I have seen as the "side effects" of back pain. Depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, irratability, anorexia, bolemia,( yuck my spelling stinks)concentration issues, hormone imbalances and those are just the start! So please do not sell yourself short as being a complainer. Sometimes the only way any of us have to ease the stress of the pain is to talk to someone who can begin to understand!!!!
