I have adopted a US Soldier
Yawl remember the thread about crocheting or knitting hats for soldiers that our member jcrsga started? (Christa is her name) She had mentioned that her sister had adopted a soldier so I went looking online for info and this is what I found:

There are LOTS and LOTS of wonderful not for profit organizations out there who provide care packages, handmade items and more to our military overseas or in active duty. I think that is how it is said. Anyway, I read up on it and I like the idea of Adopting a soldier. I registered and in a couple of days I received my soldier's info.
They urge members who have adopted soldiers to be very secretive about any info on their soldier to not put them in harms way. How someone in my town could affect my soldier overseas is beyond me, but I am following what they are telling me to do.
Anyway, I wanted to bring this to yawl's attention because anyone who adopts a soldier can be as involved as they want to be or keep it to one letter a week snail mail. They say that the snail mail letters are a huge hit with our servicemen and women overseas because they can take with them and read them when they want or need to. Even sharing with their fellow soldiers would be a big hit too, I would imagine.
I am going to get me a printer and print out my letters. I won't subject my soldier to my handwriting which I can't read myself, LOL That is a major pain in the back of my lap when I am trying to grocery shop, LOL
So, I just wanted to bring this to yawl's attention.
Happy Crafting!!
Landon
