I am a bit envious of you right now....I haven't seen grass since November!!! Just this frozen white stuff ....errrr

Teri what is the difference in a Vegan and a vegetarian?
Ohhh Meerkat...a topic I can dwell on....vegan vs vegetarian.....

A vegetarian will not eat meat or anything that breathes, including fish and chicken (some people say they are vegetarian but eat fish. Fishes are animals) Most do eat eggs, and dairy products like milk, butter and cheese, ( depending on the enzyme that is used in the cheese to coagulate it. Some cheeses are made with animal rennet some with vegetable rennet.. then again some vegetarians don't care but they should since animal rennet comes from the intestinal track of calfs.) Some vegetarians are ethical and will not wear any leather or fur...and again some don't care and only eat that way for health reasons.

Vegans consume nothing that is made from an animal. No meat, no eggs, no dairy and some no honey. Or anything that would contain those products. Ethical vegans like myself will not wear leather, fur or anything that is make from an animal. (I must confess that my tap shoes are leather. Since I need a comfortable shoe to work in hours everyday. They are pricey. too. I have tried the man made tap shoes and they kill my feet. My feet are how I make my living. However none of my street shoes are leather including my boots. All are man made materials)

Both Vegetarians and Vegans are animal friendly. I used to have a farm in NJ where we took in unwanted farm animals for 10 years. People from all over the area who were either selling their farms or bought farm animals they thought would make good pets but didn't, brought their animals to us when they didn't want them any more or we got abuse cases from the SPCA and our local animal control officer. Before we moved to Central NY, we had over 100 chickens, 28 goats, 30+/-ducks 5 geese and rabbits. We began to sell animal feed from our farm to pay for their up keep. There were horses in our area so we sold lots of horse feed.

so MeerKat ....after that long story ....that is the difference...

While I'm doing that my kitty cat is begging for food, lol! And he is persistent. But he won't eat it until I rub his head, lol! Then I go out and do a quick, well, not so quick, check in the yard to see what shrubs and trees need attention thus deciding whether or not to call my lawn service or my tree service to stop by. Then hubby gets up and I make his breakfast and we chat about what we may or may not do with the rest of the day! Usually at this point I check email, and then everything else is a matter of what I either have to do, such as a run to the grocery store, or go somewhere for pleasure such as a trip up the coast to visit a zoo, or plan an afternoon at a park with a picnic lunch, or just plain do nuttin', lol!

We usually have a cup of hot tea late at night...Bigelow's Constant Comment or Bigelow's Plantation Mint or Stash's Decaf Chai Spiced Tea.

As for crocheting, some days I may crochet or sometimes I go a few weeks without doing any crochet work. But then I also knit, which is my fave, or I'll do some garment sewing.

Or I'll be busy making bread - last week I decided to make my own burger buns for pulled pork sandwiches instead of buying those anemic kind the sell in the store. I have some English muffin bread loaves on the agenda right now but no set day to make them.

But running like a thread through any of my activities is my cat, who is a huge attention hog!

yes I have a set routine in the mornings too.....first I set up the coffee maker...then turn on the computer...then check to see if Tom (our stray cat that I feed) is on the back deck looking for me. After I take care of him I pour my coffee and then sit on the couch and open the laptop. I say good morning to my daughter on Instant Messenger (she is at college and we say good morning and good night everyday) Then I surf all the crochet blogs and of course get on Facebook!!! About 8 I shut the computer and get my day going. I don't go on again until the next morning, except to check email. My dance students get in touch with me from time to time asking questions or they just text my phone. I begin work each day at 3pm so I leave at 2pm and am not home until 9:30. Have supper and a little TV and the next morning it starts all over again.

I love homemade bread!!! Maybe a little too much. We make homemade Italian bread here and rolls from the same dough recipe. My son went to culinary school and for several years worked as a pastry chef in the Borgada Casino in Atlantic City. When he moved up her to Central NY with us he got a job in a French bakery making pastries and breads. Now he is doing what he loves....He is a chef in an Italian Restaurant / Pizzeria. He is the kitchen manager and the food is amazing....just like grandma used to make!!!

I also have a bread machine that my son got me for Mother's day 2 years ago....it does the trick when in a hurry...anything is better than store bought. I make an Italian bread in it that I put sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and flax seeds right in the dough....mmmmm delicious...don't get me started...bread and pasta is my weakness....

Good morning to all. I am looking forward to another day with sunshine and warm temperatures. The gray, gloomy days we had over the winter just increases the chronic depression I deal with so I am more than happy to be outside pulling weeds! Today I will take it easy since I have a meeting at the Gulf Coast Herb Society tonight and going out in the evening is not my favorite thing to do. My friend Patty and her husband pick me up each month and I don't have to drive, for which I am immensely grateful.
I do have to be careful when doing my yard work. In October, I had a herniated disc that pinched my sciatic nerve and caused some unbearable pain. After 2 epidurals, I am pain free but need to be careful with twisting and lifting. I do still have some residual numbness in my left leg and foot, but I'm thankful there is no pain associated with it. I had migraines for years so I've had my share of pain.

Ohhh I am so with you with the seasonal depression....when the sun is shining my mood is so different! We do have a sunny day today and I am thankful for it!!!!
Back in 1993 I had hurt my back while teaching and had a herniated disc and a bulged disc. But through chiropractic and the amount of exercise I get daily I am doing ok. I get a backache once in a while and I notice it is when I am idle....when I am off from work for a break like a week or the summer months when I don't teach as much. But I am a firm believer of exercise and to keep moving for continued back health...

    Good morning Dear Ladies,

Sipping coffee is a simple pleasure in life. I usually drink a cup of coffee as part of my morning routine. I enjoy regular and flavored coffees. And flavored creamers too! I bought a book in 2000 entitled "Coffee Talk...a Celebration of Good Coffee and Great Friends" by Ellyn Sanna because I truly enjoy coffee. I have this book on display in my kitchen. It was a ritual whenever I visited my mama that we would have our coffee chats. What memorable and wonderful times of laughter and sharing we had over a cup of coffee!

    Kindness begets kindness. Enjoy life!

Wow I'm so jealous of you ladies, this is a great thread! I work full time and have to be at work at 6:30 am, I work for the Army as a civilian. My alarm goes off at 4:30 am and I usually hit the snooze 3 times before I get up because it feels like it's the middle of the night. I open my laptop first thing to check my Facebook page, it's how I keep up with my friends and loved ones who don't live near me. I only have a few minutes of "me time" because it's a 45 minute drive for me back and forth to work. Every morning, I stop on the way to work to buy a large coffee. When I get to my office at 6:30 am, it's still dark outside. I'm gone from home 11 hours a day, but I have my weekends and every other Monday off work.

When I get home it's my time to spend with my 3 doggies, they're my babies. They miss their momma while I'm gone and are all so excited when I come home! My 2 boys are grown and raised, and both are out on their own now. So I get to do whatever I want in the evenings, which is usually crocheting. I'll be 52 in a few days and my mom is always telling me that I'm too young to stay home every evening crocheting LOL. It's what I enjoy doing the most, it's my passion!

It's nice hearing what others do with their mornings, and their days!

That sound awful, but I used to do similar hours! But am I glad I'm retired although I'd like to be younger. Sorry, I did not make the morning coffee but it's been one of those days. I think we should all be able to retire around 40-50, and travel, or do things we haven't time for when working. I glad I don't have to take the body abuse Teri takes!!! I can't say my time is my own because I have a husband. I love him, but sometimes I need time to myself and I don't think he gets that. But that's the way it goes. I love books so now when I crochet a pattern that is repetitive I listen to an Audio book that I have downloaded from the library. Same if I doing house work, cleaning the garage I'll listen to a book. I don't think I will catch you all tomorrow because we go swimming at the YMCA each morning (UGH! I hate water). So talk to you later. Have a Great evening♥♥♥
