My Peke (I call her Bug) was lost the day we had 200 tornadoes in North Alabama almost 4 years ago. Bug was found sitting on the side of the road 3 months later, her fur completely knotted up and she was filthy from living on the streets for so long. The shelter searched and searched for her family to no avail. So I adopted her. My little Maggie May (my Corgi/Pom mix, I
named after the Rod Stewart song) was from the same shelter. She lived there the first 18 months of her little life. She was born without a tail and nobody wanted her. She is very needy and constantly wanting loves and attention. Then there's my huge 85 pound black Standard Poodle, Cody. I got him as a puppy and he's 10 years old now. He's a beautiful baby! He's called a Royal Standard Poodle because of his size, and he's an extremely smart dog. Standards are the #2 smartest dog breed.
    Oh Shelley
Your dogs sound amazing!!! I love the story about Bug! and I think that Standard Poodles are magnificent creatures!!! I believe that the best place to find a "4 legged Best Friend" is at the shelter. I am dogless currently, but I have had a dog for most of my life. Actually since I was born up to 8 years ago. We are in a small home currently and awaiting for our farm in NJ to sell so we can buy what we really want and then we will get a new dog. My last dog was gotten from the local shelter in 1992. She was seriously my best friend....she was found in the NJ Pine Barrens (an area of thousands of acres preserved pine forest in South Jersey) along with her brother. She was only 5 weeks old at the time and the shelter would not let me take her home until she was estimated 8 weeks old. She was part coyote and part German Shepard mix. and honestly the best dog ever....so smart and so loyal. I miss her. She died in 2006 just before we moved to Central NY .

    Good Morning Everyone
Cloudy today ....but it is warmer ....32 degress at 7:30 am...and of course snow is in our forecast. How much? I don't even want to know.

My son comes over on Mondays ...he is off from the restaurant on Mondays and I am off from the dance school on Mondays, so we have dinner and watch Bates Motel together. (love that show!) So, recently, he made the wedding cake for his best friend's wedding. (My son was a pastry chef at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, but now lives in Central NY and is a chef in an Italian Restaurant) He made a 3 tier wedding cake with a camo topper of a Buck and Doe deer instead of the typical bride and groom topper LOL...it was adorable...his friend is an avid hunter....(much to my dismay) So to make a long story short...my son had extra ingredients left over from the wedding cake and wanted to use them up.

he spent the afternoon making Carrot cake, carrot muffin, banana bread, banana muffins....at my house....He is bringing the carrot cake, which is to be iced with cream cheese icing to the restaurant for all his co workers to enjoy and all the muffins are going in his freezer and the banana loaf he left with me. I think I am going to slice it and freeze it by the slice.

It just amazes me how quickly he worked on all of these things at the same time! I freak out over one item to bake....LOL...and he cleans up as he goes along too, that is the best part!!!

Hi Larisa, I think your baby is soooo cute. I have always had parakeets when growing up and after I was married. One looked a lot like Ceres his name was Skippy and he could take some. I hope he grows nice and strong and you have him for a long time. Take care God bless you love you Winnie

Well I am right up there with some of you. If this is still Tuesday the 31 I turned 69. But is was not a happy day as I lost my only sibling the 27th. She and I were the only ones left since my Mom died in 2012. I don't celebrate birthdays or other holidays. Just thought I would jump in and account for my age. Some of you I have never talked to and I am sorry. I have not been on here for a month or so as she was in and out of the hospital and nursing home. She died at 1:15 am on the 27th.
I have been crocheting since 1962 when I was expecting our 1st child. My Mother crocheted from the time I can remember but she could never slow down for us to catch on. So I bought a "I want to learn to crochet" book and a "I want to learn to knit" book and taught myself both. But crocheting is my passion as it is for many of you here. I had to crochet a sweater set for a girl and a boy because back then they couldn't tell you what you were having. I will post some of the thing I have made just lately or finished UFO'S. I have been trying to get my squares for the march swap done and I am way behind on them . The will be in the Mail a week from tomorrow. April 8th I think it is.
Thank you for listening to me rattle. charlye

This is the 31 of March 8:46 pm here. I am having coffee with you while I catch up on my reading. I may be here all night and meet you early birds in the morning. I didn't realize I was so far behind on my reading and I am just getting started. I have missed being here a lot lately. It is like missing your coffee club group, but I am back. I will try to catch up and keep in touch. Love and hugs charlye (p.s. for those that don't know me I am a female LOL)

Oh Charlye...nice to meet you ...we have never talked..
I am so sorry for your loss...both my parents are gone. My mom left me when I was 19 in 1975, she was only 52..so I had no one to guide me through my young adult years and raising babies. My dad left me in 2011 ...God bless him he was 93 and smart as a whip until the stroke took him. I still have my 2 brothers but, ya know, it is not like having a sister. I always wished for a sister, but mom never got the hint...LOL

It is nice to read someone's "rattleing" that is how you get to know people! I was taught to crochet by my dad's godmother, in Italian we would call her "Madrina Spina" Madrina meaning Godmother and Spina being her last name. I never knew her first name LOL...anyway, she taught my mother and I together when I was about 8 or so...I didn't crochet at a teen since my friends thought it to be "old farty" and you know how it is when you were a teen ager ....you gotta go with the crowd. So I didn't pick it up again until I was married a year!

Well Charlye good talkin' with ya have a great day
