Put up advertisement in laundermats, local churches, store bulletin boards and maybe the local library. Explain what you are doing. I have received yarn by doing this. Good Luck.

I am 62 and on a limited income and too am looking for discontinued or left over yarn to do projects for a church in my area for headbands and small items to send on a mission trip they do to Ethiopia. I use thread on them if I can find it. I don't want to take away from LittleRed, but live in the area of Dothan, Alabama.

    Thank you fo much!

there is a site called freecycle.com , there is no coast to join. the goal is to keep useable items out of the landfills. It is all over the US. your area may be involved. You can post a "wanted item" as well as offer an item. there is no cost and in post for wanted items you can request a area that you are willing to pick up in. check it out.
