    Question #2 Russian Join

Have any of you used the Russian Join? Does it truly work?

Hopefully it does because it sounds like the greatest thing going!

    Off to practice this technique............

I've not used it, I'm afraid it wouldn't hold up, but that's just me. I'm a creature of habit too so that's a change it would take me a while to get used to. Hugs, Dinah

I've used it a couple of times, and it does work. I just found it kind of tedious to do. When I join my yarn, I just thread over with my new yarn, and carry the tails of the new yarn and old yarn along and crochet over them for about 8 stitches, to hide them. I've never had any of them come out since I started doing this. I used to tie a knot, and then weave in the ends, but I was never happy about seeing the knot in my stitches, and I hated weaving in the ends.

I just learned the Russian join recently and have used it in several projects. I really like it. It seems to work better with some yarns especially something that is a little more loosely twisted.

I didn't practice it yet. Great replies!

I wondered how trustworthy it would be. My mind kept telling me that sailors splice those big ship lines and that works so it just might be okay in crochet.

I have used it many times and really like it. I taught it to a few of my crocheting friends and now we all use it.

I didn't know how to do the Russian join at all. Thanks for showing the video. I am certain I can do that and I love the way the yarn looks smooth and continuous. Thanks Bugga, I always enjoy learning something new
