Wanted: crochet Xmas stockings
Hi Everyone,
I have made this request before but I will keep trying. In the early 80' s Crochet World had a pattern for a Xmas stocking decorated like a train. Lost mine in a disaster. Does anyone remember that pattern?

That is it!!!! I can't believe it. Could I exchange something for the pattern? Thank you for responding.

I actually don't have the pattern. I found this on ebay... But the pic helps we can re-create it. Do you remeber if it was worked in rounds or make individual sides and sew together?

I'm really not a crocheter but I do crochet. Mostly I knit. It was made in 2 sides and all decor was stitched on.

Do you remember whether the issue was really close to Dec., or earlier? I perhaps can skim what mags I have and see if I can find it. The more help you can give, the easier to find it.

This is what I did. Hopefully it will be a start for you, and others might get back to you with the actual pattern.
worsted weight yarn
size G hook
Side of stocking (make 2)
starting at base of stocking ch 41
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across, Ch 1 turn (40 sc)
Row 2-20: Sc in each sc across, ch 1 turn (40 sc)
Row 21: Sc in next 20 sc. Ch 1 turn. Leave remaining sts unworked (20 sc)
Row 22-40: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1 turn. Finish off after row 40.
Funnel:
Row 1: Skip next 4 un-worked stiches on row 20. Attach, sc in same st and in next 3 sts.(4 st)
Row2-4: Ch 1 turn. Sc in same st and in each st across.
I'm not sure how they did the top of the funnel. If they did seperate peices and sewed them together afterward, or all at the same time. I did mine at the same time but it was a bit of a pain and somewhat lopsided.
If you do it in seperate peices and sew together I would add another row to the base.the top would be to CH 9. sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each sc across (8 sc) ch 1 turn, Sk 1st st sc a cross next 6 sts, sk next st, slst in the last and finish off.
Small wheel:
Rnd 1: 12 dc in magic ring. Join.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, *2 dc in next st, around. Join and finish off.
Large wheel:
Rnd 1: 20 dc in magic ring. Join.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, *2 dc in next st, around. Join
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join and finish off.
Light:
Rnd 1: 10 dc in magic ring. Join.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, *2 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, sc in next 2 sts, repeat between ** once, sc in next st, join.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st and in each st around, Join and fasten off.
Window:
Row 1: Ch 13. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2-13: Sc in same st and in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (12 sc)
at end of row 13 fasten off
Yellow Stripes?:
I would guess they ch 20? sc in first 9 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in rest of remaining sts and sc in each sc for next 3 rows
The red top looks like they used felt or cloth of some sort
I went with a thomas type train so made alot of different alterations
