.....that the yarn companies sold a sample kit of enough of a yarn to create a square, perhaps a 10 inch square, that would give us the opportunity to decide if we want that particular yarn for a project!

That sounds like a lot of yarn and I can't imagine how much yarn would cost if they did that. I buy a skein of new yarn and work with it before I do a big project. Welcome and dreaming is always fun.

That would be a great idea...just like the little quilt squares that you can buy that have several patterns of material in them for quilters...can't remember what they are called right this moment.
