    trying again

    Hello,
I am a fifty-ish year old who has never learned to crochet. I have tried many times over the years but ended up getting frustrated because i dont seem to catch on. I am determined to learn this time tho'. My problems have included trying to learn from righties as i am very left hand dominate. I have purchased left hand instructions also but still find it difficult. I look forward to being a part of this community.
    Thanks,
    Jen

Glad you are not giving up and trying again. Here is a link to a great series of videos on Youtube on how to crochet left handed:

Hi Jen, since I am pretty much ambi-dextrious (sp), ( I can use either left or right hand for a lot of things), I took a look at this website and it looks good to me. I actually think I could learn to crochet left handed. My dad was left handed and one of my sons is also left handed. I can write pretty good with either hand. Go ahead and check it out. It may help you. Good Luck!! redhead?Patty

I am right handed but I have read if you sit facing a person crocheting right handed, you can follow it better. Maybe there is someone you can watch? Just a thought.

I am lefthanded but crochet righthanded because I was taught that way! It just takes a little practice either way. I agree with LI Roe that perhaps if you watch someone else or face the person. Glad you have joined us. Hugs, Shirley

Pondfrogs, I am a totally left hand but follow right directions If it tells you to make a circle and crochet 11 double crochets. It is not saying do it right handed \just to do them. If you get too confused just let us know your problem. There are several of us lefties on here and would be glad to help you. Margaret

Hey Jen,, I just looked for a name of a person with videos for lefties. He is Micheal Selick. I thought he went too fast but found a pause button. Play some of the video and watch. Then pause the video and try what he just said, when you think you have that down, run a little more of the lesson. Stop it at any time and try what has been said. I found that I can.t crochet and watch and listen all at the same time. let us know how you are making out. Hugs, Margaret
