Here is a very easy child's poncho with 3 sizes included. It has pictures, too. Turns out really cute, I think:

Hi bugga. I made ponchos like that for my 3 granddaughters. I didn't put fringe, instead I did 2 rows double crochet so it makes a ruffle effect. The girls picked their own yarn, one has pink camo, one has bright primary varigated and other one has purples and pinks varigated. The pattern is pretty simple and easy to understand. If anyone is thinking about this one, give it a try because it is really cute and warm for kids but not as hot as a coat. Perfect for fall weather. HUGS, Shelly

That's a great idea about the double crochet ruffle border instead of fringe. Fringe is kind of fiddley to cut and knot - and kids especially seem to fool with it and it comes loose. And it doesn't wash well at all. Thanks for the tip for my future ponchos!

    Hi Mimi,

Here is one I found on the Lion Brand web site. They have many more. I hope this comes through as a usable link, but if it doesn't you should be able to go to their site, and enter the pattern number in the search bar.

    Lion Brand® Tweed Stripes®

    Pattern #: L0688

    have fun searching, and crocheting,
