Obama free phone

Has anyone heard of the Obama free phone or do any of you have one? How do you get one and is it worth the trouble of getting one and is it really free? I am tired of the 2-yr contract deals with Verizon. I want a phone that is good and inexpensive. Let's hear it from all of you out there that knows what I am talking about!! Ask.com doesn't answer my question which was exactly this:" How do I apply for an Obama free phone?" and I got everything about everything I didn't want to know!!!! Patty/redhead

I never heard of it, but I would be afraid to talk over it. LOL Do you make any long distance calls? My daughter had her long distance phone turned off and she only pays $15 a month.

Ok..as far as I know..there is one from Medicaid/Medicare/Foodstamps and yes they are free..you get 250 minutes a month..they DO NOT roll over ..you can add extra minutes for 5 dollars ..and you can text and call long distance..I believe one is Safe Link..here is web page

I have one and it dosn't work almost all the time, they sent me one of those cheap track phones, its junk.. but my daughter was sent a verizone phone and has never had any trouble with it. I am sending mine back. This is also for people with a low income.

I have one and it's from Assurance. Mine works really well and no the minutes don't roll over and it does go by income. I have a low amount of food stamps and so I qualify for one automaticlly. It's worth it to check into.

I used to have one also when I had food stamps..mine was fine. Actually it worked better than the phone I have now..I have android and doesn't ever pick up in stores..go figure.
