Bobby pin stitch markers
I don't remember who posted this idea, but it WORKS! The MINI bobby pins have cushioned ends, easy to place, hold great, and do not get in the way of the next stitch.
I purchased a package at Wal-Mart for (I think $2.18). The package includes 36 pins.
Thanks for the tip.

This sounds great! Is there a way you can post a picture? Or, I wonder if you can find them on the Walmart website, so others have an idea of exactly what to look for!
Thanks for sharing!

You can find the MINI BOBBY PINS at Wal-Mart in the "hair accessories" aisle. It is in the cosmetic section.

Bobby Pins As Stitch Markers
I also use bobby pins as stitch markers. I bought the Goody bobby pins from walmart.. $1.94 for 90. Here's the link:

I think the ones you bought are the 2" pins. I bought the 1-1/4" Conair Mini Pins. I guess it's just a matter of choice, but I think the smaller ones slip off the yarn easier and stay out of the way of the next stitch better. I'm working on an afghan now that is confusing to me, so there are parts that I have to pin two or three stitches in a row.
I never thought about using these pins (and believe me, I've been crocheting a long time!!!!) Bless the person that put me on to this.

I Love Em'
Thanks Needles it was me who discovered those little bobby pins!
I had been using the stitch markers and larger bobby pins
but they were too big for smaller things.
I bought a package immediately and used them
as soon as I got home and LOVED them!
They don't snag the yarn and are just the right size.
We all know how much these would cost
at Joanns or Michaels so this a bargain
for all us crocheters!

What a great idea! I just happened to buy some of the mini bobby pins yesterday that were colored. I am hoping I can color code my pattern to match the pins so that I can keep easier track of my row count. (I purchased the colored pins at a locally owned discount house, so cannot tell you where they would be available anywhere else. Sorry!)

hanks Mrs. P. Looks like you stared a trend. Sweet Sue found colored mini pins. I'll have to look for those. Thanks for the tip.
