    translation

I saw a nice pattern on ravelry, but it is in French. I translated it, but one word, "flang," didn't explain. Anyone know what kind of a stitch a "flang" is? Thanks, Louise

Sorry no I don't. What pattern is it? Maybe we can look at it there?

I'm kind of guessing here but doesn't flang in French translate to flange in English? Does the dress have a ruffle on it?

Yes, it does, but the term is used throughout the pattern. I'm guessing it is treble crochet. The picture is very clear showing the stitches. I may try it with tr st if I don't learn anything.

Thanks to all of you for your interest. I searched and found two sites that agree the b, which is bride, and has been translated as a flang is a dc. This is confusing because dc is used elsewhere in the translation. Guess I'll need to go back and look at both versions again. Good thing the pattern is simple!
